WESTBOROUGH _ On October 4th, trUe salon and color café (trUe) was proud to support the Second Annual Putting for Purple Event to benefit Find A Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures (FACES) at the NYU Langone Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. The event was held at The Green Thumb, 187 Turnpike Road, Westborough.
Hundreds of local residents attended the event which included mini golf and fun activities for all ages. Supporting individuals, businesses, and organizations were advertised on signs positioned across the 18 hole course, a symbol of support and hope for FACES. trUe, the popular salon based in Westborough and Framingham, was pleased to donate to this important cause. The event was profoundly successful, raising over $10,400 towards funding important research to improve the lives of individuals who have epilepsy.
“The trUe team was honored to be a part of this fundraiser, and we look forward to offering continued support in the years to come,” said trUe salon and color café President, Kevin Townsend. “We feel compelled to champion for this cause which affects many individuals in our own community and hope that through our participation, others will be empowered to do the same,” Townsend added.
As defined by FACES, epilepsy is a disorder in which a person has two or more unprovoked seizures. Those who suffer from epilepsy struggle with daily activities and fear when their next seizure will strike. According to the Epilepsy Foundation, nearly three million Americans and over 65 million people worldwide live with the debilitating condition, which causes unexpected electrical activity in the brain, leading to symptoms which may include convulsions, tremors, difficulty talking, and loss of consciousness.
