WESTBOROUGH _ For the past seven years, locally owned trUe salon and color café (trUe), the popular hair salon with locations in Westborough and Framingham, has been lifting spirits and increasing confidence in seniors throughout the community.
In 2008, the innovative salon launched a free benefit program offering senior citizens complimentary haircuts and styles. To its surprise, word grew exponentially within the area and the hair salon enlisted the talent and participation of its entire team of twenty certified stylists to meet the high demand for services.
Seniors within the community contact trUe salon and arrange services at one of its two locations. If transportation to the salon is unavailable, trUe travels to the seniors to provide services. trUe is a welcome and familiar visitor at the Westborough Senior Center. In addition to complimentary haircuts and styles, seniors receive color services at a fifty percent discount.
“We were just so pleased to offer this service to seniors who reside near our salon locations,” said Kevin Townsend, owner of trUe salon and color café. “It was a nice surprise to see so many of them using the program, and it was more successful than we could have ever imagined.”
With a typical salon visit averaging $60, professional hair services are often unattainable for those on a fixed income. trUe makes it possible for seniors to enjoy well-deserved pampering to look and feel their best. In return, the seniors provide trUe stylists with the opportunity to ensure their skills are up to the rigorous standards set by the salon.
“At trUe salon and color café, we’re committed to our local communities and we have strong beliefs about the importance of giving back to those communities. trUe’s staff participates in this opportunity to provide a service to a well-deserving group of seniors, and, at the same time, hone their skills,” said Townsend.
Seniors who participate in the program enjoy friendly and compassionate stylists, who also look forward to the visits.
“We are pleased to be able to partner with trUe salon to offer free haircuts to both senior men and women. So often little things like a new haircut mean a lot and make you feel so much better. We thank the stylists from trUe salon for offering this service!” said Alma DeManche, Executive Director of the Westborough Senior Center.
trUe salon invites seniors to contact their Westborough (508-366-3306) or Framingham (508-879-3130) locations for additional program details or to schedule a free haircut and style.
For 32 years, trUe salon and color café has been dedicated to building a team of highly-skilled stylists who participate in continuous education to provide its clients with the best quality products and services in the industry. As a privately owned salon, it has given back to numerous charitable organizations in the communities it serves and beyond. The salon offers two convenient locations in Framingham and Westborough.
